Social Entrepreneurship

Our forum on "Social Entrepreneurship" hosted in a first keynote interview Chairwoman at Limak Group of Companies, Ms. Ebru Ozdemir, who also heads the Limak Foundation which prompts education, culture and health, and more specifically supports the professional growth of young women in countries where the company operates, including Kuwait.

 

The panel discussion followed discussing the topic with four Kuwaiti female entrepreneurs who have championed the definition of social entrepreneurship. Ms. Maha Al-Baghli, Member of the Municipal Council and Founder of Safira Social Responsibility, Ms. Sanaa Al-Qamlas, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Omniya, ​Ms. Balsam Al-Ayoub, former Kuwaiti Olympian,  international fencing champion and founder of Balsam International, and Hussa Al Humaidhi, Partner and Managing Director at Raw Design and a Co-Founder of Nuqat, joined the discussions that were facilitated by Dr. Alanoud Al-Sharekh, Director of Ibtkar Consultancy, recognized internationally for her researches on youth and gender demographics in the region.

In the last session on our upcoming forum, Prof. Kathy Korman Frey speaks of social entrepreneurship in an interactive and engaging activity that invited participation from attendees. Prof. Kathy comes from a corporate background and employs her experience and learning into studying social entrepreneurship and its impact on economies.

Leading the Private Sector

Guest speaker, Dr. Cindy Drakeman, CEO of DoubleXEconomy, presented on women and the economy from a global perspective. Two panel discussions followed, the first on seeking opportunities in the private sector and leading them with panelists Maha Al-Ghunaim and Faten Al-Naqeeb, and the second on gender equality, diversity and inclusion in the corporate sector with panelist Ghosson Alkhaled and Nadia Akil.

Up The Ladder

The Women Mentor Forum hosted in its "Up the Ladder" forum Kuwaiti women executives in local and international private companies to encourage young women in persevering towards professionally developing themselves, create awareness in the important role of women in developing the private sector, share knowledge on how to recognize and grasp opportunities that lead to executive positions, and get inspired on how to overcome challenges that women may face in the workplace. Sustainable Entrepreneurship

This first forum discussed 'Sustainable Entrepreneurship' in two discussion panels. The first panel was 'Sustainable Entrepreneurship and the second was 'Concept-based Businesses'. Discussions were on the basis on which to create a business and how to ensure its sustainability.
